Pension Funds and Sustainability
To clarify the special role pension funds could play in promoting responsible corporate behaviour.
To identify patterns of corporate behaviour that are of particular relevance for the longterm value of pension funds´ portfolios.
To explore incentives that could lead to greater monitoring of corporate behaviour by pension funds and/or the asset managers they employ.
To identify, for an audience of public policy makers, the role that pension funds can play in aligning corporate behaviour with the goal of sustainability.
Projects
Project 1.01/a: Development of the conceptual framework. The project will develop conceptual approaches to look at the role of pension funds in promoting sustainability. Its specificity is to consider corporate behaviour in the perspective of long-term return on widely-diversified portfolios.
Project 1.01/b: In-depth analysis of critical CR issues for pension funds. The project will make an in depth assessment of the importance of some corporate responsibility issues for pension funds identified in 1.01/a.
Project 1.01/c: Assessing the responsiveness of pension funds. The project will look at factors hindering pension funds to play a more active role in promoting corporate responsibility along the lines defined in 1.01/a.
Project 1.01/d: Communication and outreach. The project will communicate the results of the previous projects in this program, with special events to reach out to public-policy makers.
